After His resurrection, Jesus appears to His disciples and opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, revealing that His suffering, death, and resurrection were always God’s plan. He commissions them to proclaim repentance and forgiveness to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. But before they go, He instructs them to wait for the promised Holy Spirit—the power they will need to be His witnesses. This passage challenges us to see Jesus in all of Scripture, embrace our role as witnesses, and rely on God’s timing and power rather than our own strength. Just as the disciples needed the Spirit to fulfill their mission, we too must depend on Him to boldly proclaim the gospel.
